Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan 01-02

What do you get when you have a cute angel helping out the usual hapless male protagonist? Ah! My Goddess right? Did I forget to mention that said cute angel has a spiked club called Escaliborg that she constantly uses to beat up and kill the guy, only to do a Cure3 to bring his sorry ass back alive everytime? Or that our male protagonist, for better or worse, is the founder of everlasting youth in the future for all females… only that they all look 12 years old!?
… welcome to the world of Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan, a eight episode OVA series based on the manga with the same name. Between an awesome veteran seiyuu cast and Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Goo-like comedy and style, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan is a must watch for all fans!

The only reason I was lucky enough to even know about this series is thanks to the great man that is Momotato and his pretty detail review of the series so far. You know if Momotato does an extended entry for any given series/episode, that it has to be worth watching and Dokuro-chan is no exception
I’ll once again point over to better bloggers like Momotato and Tempy for a more detail review of the episode as I’ll just do overall feelings I had after watching the series so far.
Momotato already mentioned this, but Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan has one strong seiyuu cast and a lot of them personal favorites of mine. Saeko Chiba as Dokuro was okay. Really nothing note worthy per-say about her performance but I definitely had a few laughs during the “Cure3″ revival scenes and when she had to talk (er.. whine) at mach-speed. For some reason, currently Saeko Chiba can do no wrong in my eyes (Natsuki from Mai-HiME, Momo from Peach Girl, and Ritsuko Kubel Kettenkrad from Kujibiki Unbalance). Next we have our future lolicon and male protagonist Sakura voiced by Reiko Takagi. Not a bad job either but I’ve only really heard her in Midori no Hibi as Takako Ayase and Kaolla Suu from Love Hina. I need her in more female roles dang it (loved the work she did as Takako)! Rie Kugimiya as Sabato… don’t know what to say. What I consider her “standard” voice, overly sugary and sometime whiny-high-pitched-kiddy-like works on-and-off for me. I’ll admit for now it’s not bad, and she had me laughing as the “main villian” in this episode. I doubt I won’t like her acting as she has too many funny roles in the past to work off of (Edelweiss from Dokkoider, Hotaru Imai from Gakuen-Alice, Rizel from Rizelmine, and Guardian Heart from Guardian Hearts). Lastly, Ayako Kawasumi using her “normal” voice as Shizuki, who is Sakura’s childhood friend and possible love interest? Unfortunately I can’t say much about Ayako’s performance as she only had like four lines the whole episode but like Saeko, she can do no wrong in my eyes.
For the actual series, I enjoyed the first two episodes. Really reminds me a lot of Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Goo and that’s a good thing. The off-the-wall comedy and violence had me laughing the entire time (there are too many scenes to mention). The characters themselves are pretty unique too, as I’ve never run across a lolicon-in-the-making protagonist and violent-yet-cute-looking-angel in all the anime and manga I’ve read and seen. I have a feeling even if it’s pointless humor with little or very slow plot moment I’ll still thoroughly enjoy the series either way… the series is just so refreshing from everything else I’m currently watching and Dokuro is too cute for words!
… btw, angels getting a bad case of diarrhea if their halos are taken off… LMAO!
