Ultimate Girls 12

The final conclusion: “Farewell, Ultimate Girls.”
There was so much fluff and cheese one could make an fluffy cheesy-like substance and have lots of leftovers but somehow, the final episode of Ultimate Girls was a nice delight to watch.

Vivi is still pinned down by the monster as her friends can only watch in horror as it starts to rip off her clothes and tosses her against the Comic Market Building (man, two UG projectiles and it still stands!). Vivi is out of power and disappears as the norm… the three girls meet up where UFO-Man gives the lowdown on the new monster. Here I got lost in trying to translate what they were saying so forgive me if I’m a tad off. Prime/Jealous-MOE is the cause of Makoto turning monster as UFO-Man goes on to explain how the area around the Comic Market is special or something. Also that normally they wouldn’t have to worry about the Prime/Jealous-MOE but as it feeds off the otakuness/moe (or something) Makoto became the perfect target! It is now up to Silk to defeat Makoto… the only problem is once she defeats him, he’ll be gone as Makoto’s human body is the core to the monster!
Quick change to Mayu, Okamura, and the rest of the public as they watch Makoto-M (short for my version of Makoto Monster) roam around looking for the Ultimate Girls. Okamura quickly notes that Makoto-M could actually be Makoto judging from the camera label and whatnot. If so, then Makoto is in… WHOA! Makoto-M pissed at not finding the girls hits and tosses a part of the building towards Mayu and Okamura! Okamura tells Mayu to escape and that there’s no way the monster could be Makoto now. If Okamura only knew how right he initially was…
Back to the girls and UFO-Man as they argue over beating Makoto. UFO-Man pretty much encourages Silk to go since its their job to defeat any monsters but Silk says she can’t, now knowing what will happen to Makoto plus he’s her first love(?). Silk then goes on to say it would have been better if UFO-Man didn’t save them so she wouldn’t have to go through the pain she currently is in now. UFO-Man tries to defend back about doing the right thing or something (still not telling them it was his fault). Eventually Silk makes the decision to go, surprising both Tsubomi and Vivi. Silk goes on to say it’s alright with her since she was originally suppose to be dead anyway. She was able to go an date and give a present to her true love; isn’t that what it’s all about for a young girl who’s in love? Some more emotional blah blah that I’ve forgotten but one can get the picture of it being a moving scene right? Anyway, Silk has one request from UFO-Man: when she does defeat Makoto-M, use her body to save Makoto’s! (this request might have been before the flowery love-love speech) All them are shocked (UFO-Man is moved to tears) as Silk gets ready to “launch.” Vivi tries to stop Silk but it’s too late…
Ultimate Girl Little Boobies is now at the scene with everyone cheering her on. Silk has one last request for UFO-Man: please erase any memories Makoto might have of the battle or of her. UFO-Man is shocked yet again but also surprised at how sacrificing Silk is. The final battle slowly starts as Makoto-M takes photos of Silk similar to how Makoto does, just re-affirming Silk’s final choices. Mayu is cheering her on when she suddenly has tears in her eyes, though she doesn’t know why (foreshadowing?!?). Vivi and Tsubomi try to catch up with Silk as all they can do is yell helpless to try to stop her, however little good that would do. Silk gets UFO-Man to lower their power, making her clothes rip as per the norm to bait Makoto-M towards her. The two end up on top of the pyramid/comic market building where Silk sets her final resolution. Just as her power is running low, Silk goes MOE TO THE MAX as she hugs Makoto-M saying “even though you’re not going to remember, this is Koharuno Silk!” She breaks down Makoto-M defenses and cracks the camera len’s Makoto is stuck in… Makoto slowly wakes up to see Ultimate Girl Little Boobies recognizing it’s Silk! Silk is somewhat surprised but UFO-Man urges her on as Silk with tears overflowing destroys the core thinking “even so, I don’t want you to forget!” (to Makoto of course)
… the monster is destroyed and everyone is cheering! Mayu comments it’s finally over right, when Okamura interjects yes for now but there’ll always be more monsters around… thankfully the Ulitmate Girls will be the ones to stop them!
Makoto wakes up laying on the floor somewhere outside when Vivi and Tsubomi find him. They’re happy he’s okay as he says he finally knows the true identity of one of the Ultimate Girls… huh… what was it again? Seems like he forgot
Makoto then finds a photo on him reminding him he has to give it to Silk, which triggers the other two girls’ sad faces as they realize Silk is now gone. The three of them are looking over the photo Makoto has to give, the girls still sad about Silk, while in the background one sees a nude falling Silk! They hear her land and are overjoyed that Silk is alive! Silk herself is surprised that she’s alive but also happy as Makoto is fine too. Makoto greets her and off-handily comments she’ll catch a cold like that… Silk red-face embarrassed was so cute! Vivi tries to cover Silk up while Tsubomi covers her brother’s eyes from seeing too much. Vivi and Silk wonder why she’s alive when UFO-Man’s voice comes in saying how much trouble they all are. UFO-Man got smaller! He tells the two (well mostly Vivi) that he figured something like this would happen, considering how Silk is. So he gave a portion of his body to Makoto/Silk too. He goes to Silk saying she should be thankful (and that him erasing the memory of the battle a secret between the two of them) but don’t forget, he’ll still need their help to fight the monsters. Silk is way too happy for words as she hugs UFO-Man thanking him for everything… UFO-Man finally gets the type of reward he’s been looking for
The ending credits roll by as we find Makoto and Silk on the rooftop of their school where Makoto tells Silk he won’t be going to America anymore, saying he has something else to look for instead(?). Silk is all “great, who’s on his mind now” when Makoto gives her the photo from before walking off all cool like. Silk is slightly er.. lost.. or something.. but thanks him for the photo anyway while in the background, Vivi and Tsubomi have been watching the whole time. Tsubomi jokingly mentions if this is going to be fine with Vivi, with Vivi embarrassed and saying it’s a not a big deal. Scene then goes to the girls’ locker room with a baseball-painted UFO-Man peeking saying he’s found some true happiness here. The rest of the images are of the usual “day-to-day” stuff with the monster-of-the-week and whatnot. Ends as the camera pans from Silk’s apartment as she’s about to face off the monster when the viewer notices the picture frame… it’s the photo Makoto gave her: it’s the two of them from the field trip, with Makoto shyly looking towards the equally shy Silk.
Thus ends the somewhat fun ride that has been Ultimate Girls. The series definitely had its ups and downs for various reasons I’m not going to get into but will just credit as the moe studios’ usual faults. If I had to recommend Ultimate Girls, I would probably rate it as an C- just for being barely passable with the fanservice helping a little. It’s a good series for mindless eechi fun that is a cross between Ultraman and the standard magical-girl-genre. I would also have to give credit to Toru Furuya as UFO-Man for making the series as hilarious as it was. He pulls off being an perverted superhero without breaking a sweat. Also have to mention Misato Fukuen as Silk as she really pulled through on the last episode, conveying Silk’s feelings really well. I thought I might break a tear or two hearing Silk’s confession and speech right before she went to battle Makoto-M.
In the end, Ultimate Girls was an decent series to watch but at the same time shows how campy moe studios has been getting. They have some decent production values when need be (*cough* fanservice *cough*) but an majority of their series are total fluff with little plot. I mean, I enjoyed Cosprayers, Hit Smash!, and Love Love? all the same but if you looked at them in general they were pretty lame compared to other shows in the same genre. Hopefully one day moe studios might pull something half-creative out of their collective arses and surprise us all with how good they can be… fanservice be damned!
