More Rentarou, Sara, and Souju “daily lives” type scenes (plus a good dose of SD-ness). Part of Rentarou and his father’s past revealed (alien squid?!). Also learned how Rentarou met Sara and Souju two years ago (Sara always speaks her mind!).

There must be some higher deity out there blessing this anime as no series should be as fun to watch as Futakoi Alternative is!

Sara and Souju arguing over their “jobs” was hilarious! I liked how Sara was trying to make sure Souju stayed the more “girly” one of the two while Sara’ll take on the “manly” jobs. Souju wanting to help, though, was just too adorable for words! Loved how Rentarou tried to calm the two down with his little American Twins story… that unfortunately didn’t get any use as the girls made up by the time he was done writing the story!

Interesting how Souju not getting the name (and time?) of their potential new client led to the three of them just chilling, sun bathing, “eating,” looking for UFOs, and silently thinking over their past, present, and future.

More on the UFO bit a little later but for now I have to mention the total cuteness that was Sara during her attempt to cook lunch for the three. The staff definitely took “bad cooking” to a whole new funny loveable SD level!

Detectives are Superheroes to you know!
Monster alien Squid attacking your town? Have no fear! There will always arise an hero to save the day.. even if his son wasn’t so willing ^_^;; Don’t ask me to explain why a monster squid would be attacking, but considering Lala and Lulu were fighting a white blob creature the first episode I guess anything was possible. Anyway, one had to give Rentarou’s dad props for being a True Man(TM) and converting his son to do the right thing by deciding to defeat the squid!

I don’t know what was funnier, Rentarou’s dad special technique or Rentarou aged 16’s haircut!

The Past Re-visited
At least now I know why Rentarou was good in boxing in the first episode as apparently he had a short stunt as a boxer based on his “photo” with his father when Rentarou was 18. Funny how just a couple years can change a person… i.e. “Street Punk Rentarou” to “Boxing Champ Rentarou.” Also liked how they kept Rentarou’s dad mysterious for the most part (damn, we never see his complete face) but made obvious how he was a big part in shaping who Rentarou is now.

Rentarou meeting Souju and Sara… funny? I mean, it seem to be in a serious content that the two needed his services but Sara all goes and ruined it by complaining about Rentarou’s lack of interior design style ^_^;; The killer had to be when Souju even started to join in… poor Rentarou!

Ah… UFO?!?
I didn’t really understand the whole spotting and chasing after an UFO but thought it was still pretty important. Even though a tad silly with Rentarou, Souju, and Sara jumping every which way I enjoyed how it showed their close bonds to one another (made more apparent as Rentarou narrated this part).

I think it was moments like the three looking for the UFO and when they were sleeping together that make their relationship in Futakoi Alternative work (and look) so well. Basically the three became a close family with Sara and Souju attached to Rentarou as him being their sole(?) benefactor and “family.” Even more amazing is how attached Rentarou has become to Sara and Souju as important girls to him… definitely some “aww” moments here and there. There is probably a lore more to their relationship than we currently know, (which episode three hints at through Ai and Mai’s story) and it’ll be fun to watch as the pieces are slowly shown and put together. You just want to know what exactly brought Rentarou, Sara, and Souju together that made them all so close with bonds as strong if not stronger than familial ones…

… damn… when do the R2 DVDs come out again…?
