I was in luck when all of this arrived yesterday, including the Ichigo Mashimaro Prologue DVD. For $20, one gets a nice single case box that includes an 30 minute promotion of sorts plus a nifty 2005 desktop calendar with the girls on it (which I have and will not open). I really hope Geneon continues to do the trend of releasing prologue DVDs of upcoming series (another one to note is He is My Master which I’ll be reviewing shortly). For the average anime fan, importing R2 DVDs isn’t cheap but at $20, these prologue DVDs are a nice starter and a great way to collect series one might be interested in but may not want to actually buy all the R2 DVDs.
The disc is broken up into three parts: an 5 minute prologue of the girls coming to “invade” earth, 20ish minutes “seiyuu talk” (as I like to call it), and a 2-3 mintue promo of the OP including various scenes from the series. The best part, for me at least, has to be the “seiyuu talk” where I can put faces to the names and voices of various female voice actresses I like; for example, was a first finally seeing Ayako Kawasumi & Fumiko Orikasa and how they normally sound.
Before you continue on, let me apologize in advance for the not so great screencaps. This is my first time capturing from a DVD source as I just queued the thing up on Windows Media Player Classic and did my usual. Unforuntately the captures were alittle “shrunk” so don’t be surprised if everyone looks a little “tall” and “thin.” Once again, sorry about that.
