Comic Party Revolution 13

Gaining fame at Comic Party has left Kazuki with stage fright as the deadline for his next doujinshi approaches. Only with the help of another Mizuki and all of his friends, can Kazuki hope to get out of his rut and move forward. Will he make it in time or will the enchanting words of Dark Mizuki(TM) take Kazuki on a whole new path? Find out in the last exciting episode of Comic Party Revolution with its thrills, chills, and much much more!
… well, if anything else, there’s a naked Mizuki!

Kazuki finds out through Miyabi about Brothers-2 being recognized for *something* Comic Party convention related. Much to say, Kazuki is shocked but everyone congrats him in one form or another. Unfortunately for Kazuki, harsh words (somewhat said jokingly) from Eimi somewhat stop his creative processes as he can’t get himself to draw anything worthwhile… Kazuki cannot for the life of him get any ideas, what with everyone having high hopes with him plus Taishi’s constant calls (hilarious everytime)…
One day Kazuki bumps into Mizuki on a rainy day, where he quickly apologizes for his outburst a few days ago when she came to visit. Mizuki acts if the event never happened… Later on, Mizuki is copying notes for Kazuki who has been out of funk cause of the doujinshi and hasn’t been to classes in awhile. She tries to re-affirm to herself she’s doing this “just cause” than for any personal reason.
Kazuki runs into Mizuki again on another rainy day and the two end going home together as they talk about which is better, curry or beef stew (think from School Rumble with Eri). Right after the two walk off screen, another Mizuki passes by… that night, Mizuki is practicing her Card Master Peach transformation sequence and once again tries to tell herself she’s not doing it for Kazuki’s sake.
Guy drops by Kazuki’s place to give him cookies of all things! Of course, they’re from Ikumi along with a message… Right after Guy leaves, Mizuki appears out of nowhere inside Kazuki’s apartment already cleaned up the mess that had piling up. She easily convinces Kazuki to get out of his apartment to get some fresh air and relax a bit. Meanwhile, the real Mizuki is in her apartment making curry for Kazuki (whether she’ll admit it or not).
Pink-wearing Mizuki and Kazuki are having the time of their lives, basically on a date of sorts. Pink-wearing Mizuki is awesomingly cute and it’s amazing Kazuki couldn’t tell she wasn’t the real one. Anyway, Kazuki thanks Mizuki for the great time and letting him take his mind off the doujinshi. She’s happy that Kazuki feels better and if I remember, something about liking his art…
All the girls are at Kazuki’s to check his progress. Yuu has also dragged Eimi with her to apologize to Kazuki about her remark earlier in the episode. Only problem is none of them can get inside! Inside, Ex-Pink-wearing Mizuki is naked except for a towel as she has asked Kazuki to do a painting of her! Initially surprised with Mizuki’s sudden attitude change, Kazuki seriously gets to work… the girls still can’t get inside the apartment even after Yuu’s paper fan attack. Back inside Kazuki has finished the beautiful painting of Mizuki. Still-only-in-a-towel Mizuki slowly changes Kazuki’s way of thinking as she puts him in a trance-like state convincing him to give up doujinshi and go do actual art. All looks lost for Kazuki as he has fallen into her trap, going so far to almost kiss her; that is, until the real Mizuki comes busting in from the windows!
We learn of the second Mizuki’s origins of (I think) being a manifestation of Kazuki’s worries and doubts as a doujinshi artist. She loves Kazuki’s artwork and wants to lead him in the “right” path once again… the path he had decided not to take. Dark Mizuki tries to even convince Mizuki to join her as she originally felt the same, of wanting Kazuki to go back to the normal world but somehow even she has been drawn in into the world of doujinshi and anime. Dark Mizuki puts out her hand inviting Mizuki… but Mizuki declines as she slaps the hand away declaring that while Kazuki has a lot of faults (ouch!), if there’s one thing she does like about him its his doujinshi choice. Left with no choices, the two Mizukis battle it out with Kazuki’s future at stake! Mizuki ala Card Master Peach while Dark Mizuki in Tennis Form as the two go at it strong. Mizuki tries to get Kazuki to wake up from the trance but it isn’t work… she’s slowly losing to Dark Mizuki… in comes the saviour, Taishi asking how Kazuki’s doujinshi is going. That snaps Kazuki out of it as his constant frustration of Taishi not helping really pissed him off! Kazuki then realizes the weird world they’re in and that there are two Mizukis. Some talking and Kazuki declares he’ll continue doujinshi etc etc. Dark Mizuki is shocked beyond belief and this allows Mizuki to easily win! Mizuki, Taishi, and Kazuki are now back in the real world and the girls can enter the apartment. Taishi idly comments about Mizuki saving the day or something but gets a hit on the head for his troubles.
Comic Party day, Kazuki has somehow finished and everyone is there to cheer him on. Episode ends with Miyabi announcing the start of the convention as Kazuki and Mizuki (in cosplay of course) get ready to sell. Ending sequence has various cast members dropping by Brothers-2’s booth to pick up Kazuki’s doujinshi. Comic Party is almost done, so Mizuki goes to change as there is only one copy left of Kazuki’s doujinshi. It gets bought right after she leaves and much to Kazuki’s surprise, it’s Dark Mizuki! Kazuki is somewhat speechless but she says that no matter what, she’ll love his art etc etc etc. Mizuki is running back to Kazuki through the crowd and she and Dark Mizuki passes each other… the end.
Well, that’s it. No more animated Comic Party. At least for now. Pretty decent final episode as it was mostly serious with Kazuki’s storyline of whether or not he could hack it as his doujinshis become more recognized and the like. The second Mizuki was kind of strange but somehow I felt kept true to the unique style that is Comic Party Revolution. The battle at the end was kind of cheesy but oh well. I did enjoy how Taishi sort of “saved” the day and nude Mizuki in any form is always good in my books
Have to also give props to Mizuki’s voice actress who I only assume did double duty and voiced both Mizukis. The Dark Mizuki, as far as I could tell, had a bit more of a deeper-sexy-ish voice compared to the normal Mizuki which definitely worked in my opinion. Then again, women with somewhat deeperish sexy voices are always hot (Yuu Asakawa being my favorite)!
I hope Comic Party Revolution eventually gets licensed over here in the states as I found it a lot more fun to watch than the original TV series. The series just felt a lot more light-hearted and what I think kept to the true essence of Comic Party. Then again, what do I know right? *wonders if TRSI will license this, since they did the TV series*
