Gundam SEED Destiny 25

Athrun’s decision, the truth behind the EXTENDED, and a fight that changes destiny itself.

Dusting off my Gundam SEED Destiny backlog, I’m diving back to the world of Gundam fast and hard. slow and slow.
Goodbye Ball & Chain
Indecisive Athrun was at it again as he was currently under Gilbert Durandal’s magical charms basically going “screw you guys, Durandal sounds right plus there are two hot sisters ready and willing.” Basically told Cagalli and Kira to stop their madness of interfering in battles and to go back to ORB if they truly wanted to set things right. Personally, I thought Athrun was still a bit pissed about Cagalli almost getting married even though he (basically) proposed to her before leaving for PLANT. The slight love-hate relationship Kira and Athrun have once in a blue moon reappeared even though both guys had their valid points. I swear, all Kira and Athrun really needed to do was find a local pub and kick back a few then everything would have worked itself out.
I found it amazing that none of them noticed Lunamaria even though she kind of stuck out like a sore thumb. She wasn’t exactly blending in with the surroundings with her unqiue hair color, spy equipment, and helicopter that went off in alarm. And how Athrun didn’t notice when he was leaving in Saviour just had me going “WTH?!” while shaking my head. (I guess at the end it doesn’t matter, we got to see Lunamaria in street clothes!)
Steroid is old school, nowadays it’s all about the EXTENDED
The “why the bad guys are bad” plot. Really the only thing worthwhile from this part of the episode was the hint that Gilbert Durandal, Raww Le Kleuze, and Ray have known about the place way before Gundam SEED ever started. The plot thickens…
We also learned Auel’s “key word” of “mother” that triggered painful memories which led Stellar to go AWOL with Gaia to protect the lab where the Minerva crew was. Probably also being the most lines she has ever had to date with her “protect”, “death”, and various grunts! Almost forgot to mention I thought it cute in a weird way Stellar’s puppy-dog like attachment to Mwu La Flaga Neo Roanoke for unexplainable reasons; that or I was simply jealous. *shrugs*
Any “I’m sorry I almost killed you” cards around?
The truth finally revealed to Shinn that Stellar has been the pilot of Gaia the whole time. Loved how Athrun sat on his behind while making Shinn do all the work. Veterans do deserve breaks now and then but man, Athrun’s so going to regret letting Shinn get better in the near future. Shinn’s skills leveled up as he started creating his “sword-cockpit-ken” only to discover his beloved Stellar was in the gundam. Twist of irony or what huh?
After watching the Stellar versus Shinn battle, I’ve come to the conclusion that the Extended really weren’t much better than normal pilots. Stellar easily got owned by Shinn and in reality, none of the three Extended this series have done damage to the main cast. Nice to know EA’s experiments and fundings have got to waste yet again.
… and damn, Lunamaria must be a fricking Ninja Master to the 2300th degree not to be noticed or accidentally attacked in the battle. Between this battle and Kira and co not noticing her, I wonder if Lunamaria had some tricks up her lovely sleeves. Either that, or everyone else thought she was no importance and not worth dealing with. (if so, that’s just plain wrong!)

Here we call it ‘eye-power’. A very potent form of ninjitsu that get things done much faster by staring at another working on it. Mostly used in the military (Didn’t know ZAFT was that similar to our armed forces here.)
