Gundam SEED Destiny 27
Thanks to Lacus borrowing the Lovely Eye-Patch from Andy, they make it back to the Eternal without problem. Back on Earth, preparations are being made to attack the Minerva once again as plans for a new Gundam and the ever continuing chess game between EAF and ZAFT goes on. On the Love Boat Minerva, things are looking bad for Stellar while Shinn is readying to go SSJ on whoever he can to relieve his inability to do anything. Shinn’s counterpart, Lunamaria starts to question her undying love for Athrun when reporting on her recent ninja outing. The beginning of another major battle between EAF/ORB versus ZAFT also brings back hottie Miriallia as Kira and Cagalli go do their mecha thing; meanwhile, the ZAFT vs EAF gundams showdown starts to kick in gear.
BTW, +2 brownie points if you know the double in-joke about the Lovely Eye-Patch remark. +10 if for some reason you think the above picture will actually happen in Gundam SEED Destiny in the near future.
Who’s the Pawn now?
Neo/EAF is the pawn of Jibril, ORB/Yuna is a pawn of Neo/EAF, and ZAFT a pawn for Durandal. Ain’t that fun? Anyway, as I mentioned earlier in the entry various factions are preparing for the next great battle while the masterminds (ie. Jibril and Durandal) prepare for the next five steps ahead. Unfortunately being a pawn also means the most logical people in the series get screwed over as exemplified by Todaka and Neo. Now I understand the expression “why all the good ones die first” as the more powerful (and usually less logical) individuals sacrifice them for their own selfish reasons. Just got to love how the world works right?
We also learn that Lunamaria’s first ninja mission wasn’t just because she was stalking Athrun but was ordered under Gladis to double check his movements. I almost cheered when Lunamaria was about to think on her own for once and question more about Athrun (and Kira & Cagalli no doubt) but military training stopped her! If you’ve ever watched Cromartie, I felt exactly how the guys felt when they thought Mechazawa’s obvious secret would be outted but wasn’t. Maybe Lunamaria not questioning Gladis’ orders was the first signs of her “downfall” that’ll lead her and Shinn to be together… however f*cked that is.
Haven’t we been down this road before…
Gundam SEED Destiny wouldn’t be Gundam SEED Destiny without pointless battles to showcase the cast’s skills. This episode is no exception as it seems another repeat battle between the Minerva, EAF/ORB, and the Archangel is about to happen. Well at least this time we know something big will happen as characters are going to be killed left and right, also keeping with GSD tradition. I mean why else would Miriallia re-appear out of the blue if not for the fact some other characters are going to be canned right?
So let the killing spree begin!

The Lovely Eye Patch is from Jubei-Chan and in one episode, an enemy ninja took the eyepatch eventhough she wasn’t blind in one eye where Jubei was blinded in one eye.
