xxxHOLiC Anime

Filed: Random — moyism at 11:35 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2005

Great news thanks to Shingo:

According to Kodansha’s official site, xxxHOLiC will be animated as a TV series in 2006 (in addition to the recently released movie). Moon Phase speculates that it will have the same staff as Tsubasa Chronicle.

I’ve been dying for a xxxHolic animated TV series ever since it was announced Tsubasa Chronicle was going to be one, and it seems my wish has finally been granted. First it was the Fate/Stay Night anime, and now a xxxHolic TV series. 2006 just keeps getting better and better! I can’t wait to see what other great anime will be out next year!

To Heart 2 02

Tamaki Kousaka is a senior at a private academy, transferring back home to keep a long ago made promise. Tamaki’s close friends try to get her to reconsider as even Tamaki knows it sounds pointless, but it’s something she has to do. Without much fanfare, she leaves the three girls as she heads back home…

… and is next seen about to serve tea to Takaki. Yep, Tamaki is not only a childhood friend of Takaki but also Yuuji’s (another childhood friend of Takaki and Konomi) older sister! Takaki initially doesn’t realize who Tamaki is but after an hilarious hint from Yuuji and some great sibling “bonding” from the Kousakas, he soon figures everything out. There’s a lot of groping on Tamaki’s part with their reunion, Takaki unfortunately having to take it like a man. Konomi later drops by and its a childhood reunion as the four enjoy looking at a rainbow after the day’s rain stopped.

Following day Tamaki wakes Takaki up, much to his charging. Initially surprised he soon learns Taka-nee (Takaki’s and Konomi’s nickname for Tamaki from childhood) is there to pick him up to go shopping with everyone. Takaki has zero excuses so off to the mall they all go! Some Tamaki playfulness involving women under garments highlight the group’s trip to the local mall.

The day after Tamaki decides to gather the group again to watch cherry blossoms but Yuuji is nowhere to be found. Tamaki and Konomi dropping by Takaki’s house leads them to find no one is home… until they hear Takaki’s pitiful attempt to leave his house with Yuuji unnoticed. Tamaki charges after the boys while reliving some childhood memories of a similar situation. The cat and mouse game eventually lead them to a nearby shrine where Tamaki easily finds the boys and grabs her “prize”: Takaki. The two reminisce about the past as Tamaki brings up her childhood promise with Takaki. Takaki vaguely recalls the event but doesn’t think much of it. Tamaki lets it drop as she’s finally back with everyone again just as Konomi comes to find them, having captured the escaped Yuuji.

New school semester for Yuuji, Takaki, and Konomi. The later two wonder how Tamaki is doing as she must be back at the private academy by now. Yuuji shows signs of knowing something but wisely keeps his mouth shut. Konomi idly mentions she should show the school uniform to Tama-nee one day as she heads off… only to trip and be saved by Tamaki! Seems like Tamaki is back for good as she transferred into their school as a 3rd year (senior)! Konomi is thrilled about having her Tama-nee around longer while the boys aren’t so happy. Who would when for one guy, its their older bossy sister while for the other, its a friend who basically treats you like her personal pet. Thus ends another episode of To Heart 2 with the cast a little bit bigger and the male characters a little bit sadder ;)

Kaleido Star 51

The final TV episode.

One can probably guess the ending of the episode, so I won’t say much here other than it’ll be a little sad now that Kaleido Star is over. I really wished the series could have ended with a bigger bang but with all the good time feelings there was literally no room for any last minute surprises or revelations. How unfortunate too, since I thought the ending needed something to cut down on the cheese. ;)

Give ‘Em A Home

Sad I have many recent blog status updates but very little anime-related ones. Anyway, let’s hope this is the last blog status update for awhile.

On a whim I changed the blog theme again, this time to Gemini Green. So far I’ve gotten good responses from the folks over at Matthew’s Shoutbox on the new layout. Since there are people who like the layout, the couple of hours spent at hacking at the theme code made it well worth it.

I had to get rid of fluff I didn’t need plus add in a bunch of other appearance options. I had to change how the bt releases links look, as they still give the newest release of five different bt sites, but now there’s no associated link to which site the releases are from. Of course, one can still just click on the “BT” link in the navigation header for all the recent releases from five of the most popular anime bt sites. ;) Newest feature, which is similar to the one at Matthew’s, is any entry will now have a nice drop-down menu listing all posts in the same category. Now a visitor can easily going through all my entries on a given series without jumping through 10+ clicks!

The real point of this entry, however, is to donate my two link buttons to any that may want to use them. I used to have them on my sidebar but now with the current layout, I just can’t put them anywhere without messing up the feel of the page. I beg to all those that do read this, do not let the two link buttons go to waste! It’ll be a shame to let such cute banners die because of non-use!
