To Heart - Remember My Memories 09

Hiroyuki and Akari go on a “break” as Akari starts to question what exactly she is to Hiroyuki ever since he’s been spending time with his sextoy Multi. In between the two lovebird’s awkward moments, we learn more about Feel (the previous maid robot before Multi) and her creator via the creator’s ex-boyfriend (who’s ironically the professor’s relative). A lot of similarities are drawn between Feel and Multi and the situation Hiroyuki is currently in; some advice by the ex-boyfriend only makes Hiroyuki ponder his problems more.
Since Akari and Hiroyuki are too stubborn to make up with lots of sex, Akari pretty much avoids him and Multi when they all coincidentally lodge at the same hotel. Hiroyuki takes part of his frustation out on Multi leaving her to her lonesome but ever the faithful robot, does her best to make Hiroyuki satisfied anyways. Later the same night, after a heated discussion with Akari about their relationship, Hiroyuki gets another bomb as Multi readily admits her happiness is dependent on making him happy.
The love triangle continues with Akari not accepting Hiroyuki’s divided attention while Multi just wants to please Hiroyuki any way possible. I’m telling you, they all just need a wild night of non-stop sex to clear the air and get their feelings straighten out. Sex can solve many problems you know?

Can the plot be any more obvious? There are way too many coincidences to make the episode believeable. Running into Feel’s creator’s ex-boyfriend who happens to have some good advice and material for Hiroyuki? Shiho and Akari just happening to rent the same hotel as Hiroyuki? Both of them entering the baths at the same time? Multi’s confession to Hiroyuki? Give me a break!
At the core, To Heart is a love story. Viewers were thoroughly fed this notion in the first season of the series, which did a fine job in getting Hiroyuki and Akari together. Happy ending right? No and that’s where To Heart - Remember My Memories comes in. Just like any relationship, there are going to be ups and downs and Hiroyuki’s is no exception. Multi just happens to be the easy way to bring some trouble into the relationship and in that aspect, was a okay choice. However, I’m not liking how the staff’s handling the “rocky” relationship between Hiroyuki and Akari since then. Maybe it’s too drawn out? Since both are too prideful to say anything, their relationship hangs at a standstill and to fill in that gap, Multi’s “problem” suddenly becomes the main story. Multi’s story, though, isn’t much better than Hiroyuki’s and Akari’s relationship issues as it brings very unbelieveable elements to the story that aren’t necessary (look at my above comment about convenient coincidences). It almost seems the staff doesn’t know if it wants to deal with Multi’s problem first or Akari and Hiroyuki’s relationship instead.
You know what’s going to make it worse though? The obvious happy ending that will be To Heart - Remember My Memories. Hiroyuki and Akari’s relationship will finally be stable through whatever circumstances and help from friends. The future of the two will be secured somehow too. Multi? Odds are they’ll suddenly find a fix to Multi’s problem at a point where Akari gets over her jealousy of Hiroyuki’s attention to Multi. And you know Hiroyuki will probably be the main reason Multi’s problem gets fixed even though he’s no where near being a genius to do so (actually the last episode…)
