Magical Canan 020
Still pretty standard form for an magical girl show. Chihaya doesn’t want to be an magical girl and pretty much tells Natsuki to get lost. She starts to feel guilty and whatnot, looks for him while running into future villian Emi. Chihaya guilt gets worse when she sees news reports about robbery, showing an image of a monster somewhat like the one she fought before. Eventually, she accepts being Magical Canan when Emi is caught by the monster-of-the-episode and defeats it as per the norm (while still getting used to her new powers). Foreshadowing of Emi being a “bad guy” when Chihaya sees her magical girl form… sorta.
So, I’m still watching after two episodes thus far and I’m hoping by some miracle this show will get better. Currently there is nothing unique about this magical girl show (yet), what with the two most biggest problems being no real OP and eyecatch CM yet. I could understand if it was just the first episode, but after that the show should get off its ass and have the “standards.” I wonder if part of the problem comes from the source, since the hentai didn’t have much plot to begin with; let along enough to have an 12+ episodes non-hentai version. Unless something dramatic happens I foresee Magical Canan sucking big time even though they have Ryo Hirohashi AND Nana Mizuki as seiyuus. X(
BTW, even though I bashed this episode there was one highlight! The mother and daughter bath scene! For this alone, I can 50% forgive this otherwise bland magical girl show. Now if there was more scenes like these…. maybe I can forgive them a good 60%….
